A full pack of matches is shown to the spectator. The performer ignites the match, then mysteriously makes the match disappear - only to instantly reappear in the pack of matches the spectator has been holding onto the entire time.

A playing card is freely selected and - under impossible conditions - it vanishes. The spectator slowly opens the matchbook to find the matchbook itself has transformed into their selected card.

Completely practical and extremely simple to learn and perform.

I have been performing this effect since 2009 when I got the first LIT with only 14 gimmicks per package. It’s been a brilliant staple of magic in my repertoire for over 9 years now. I have played with it...spoofed with it....made it my own and absolutely love what Hauss and White have done and continue to do with this trick!! The fact that this new updated version of LIT provides you with so many more gimmicks per package and some wildly cool and wacky new variations on this trick only heightens my level of joy at the fact that this effect is now back in the world for new and old magicians to play with. If you are an amateur or professional and you don’t know or perform this trick....YOU SHOULD!! It is beyond killer! It is PHENOMENAL!!!

Clear instructions were very important in performing this trick and they were perfect. You'll need to practice and be good and shifting the attention and focus of your audience. Then again, it is incredibly easy to perform. It's unfortunate that you have to buy your own matchboxes so do order your matchboxes at the same time you order the rest of the gimmicks so they arrive at the same time. Amazing reactions.

The trick is very good and the one stars is only related to another issue with this trick:

you need a certain design of matchbooks. Those matchbooks are after all those years quiet impossilble to get if you live outside US. Penguin helped me to find a link but I would have to pay $20 shipping for a $2 item. Not gonna happen. And so I am missing a note/warning here that the needed item is very hard to find. Some magic shops had them years ago, but not anymore.

Actual status: not able to perform this trick and it is waisted money for me.

Dan White and Dan Hauss came up with a whole routine starting with a well known old trick and building it into a brilliant performance with a great finish. The only problem is that Amazon doesn't sell those white matchbooks here in Australia and importing them is expensive. Yes Dan & Dan gave a matchbox version of the trick but the matchbook version is much better.

This effect is surely one of the best transformation effect but it depends where you live it's not easy to find the matchbox... So at least one matchbox included will be great...

This is something your spectator will not forget. I have people who still only remember this trick after years. get it you will not regret it. Practice will be necessary this is not something you will do out of the box but the payoff is great.

Revisiting an old effect because it was done on TV? Report this review

I’ve owned Lit way before penguin sold it. And it’s a great effect. But I’m struggling to understand why it was revisited and put back out as if it were a new effect. Because it’s clearly not. While we’re at it, let’s bring back STS and Money. Why not the DL or the muscle pass. I can see why this comment is the first review. Not everyone appreciates the effort a company tries and resell older effects base off of a television performance. I still have plenty of gimmicks. And there is nothing new in this revisited effect. But that’s just one persons opinion. But as for the actual effect, it’s super solid if you have some decent misdirection skills. And your hands should have windows. None the less, it lacks a big punch when the routine is completely done.
